Service Rates

Computer related media:

We charge a flat $200 fee for imaging of the first item and $100 for subsequent items. The imaging process can be lengthy but we feel it is not in our clients’ best interest for us to charge an hourly rate for a service that requires minimal manual labor. Once the imaging and initial case processing is complete, we charge $75 per hour for data analysis, recovery, and reporting for the first four hours and $50 for each additional hour. The amount of time this process takes directly relates to the scope of the case. If you only want emails or pictures recovered, it can take as little as a few hours. However, if you desire the recovery of everything possible, it can take days.

Scenario: Company X ships two hard drives requesting the recovery of emails to confirm or deny an employee’s misuse of company equipment. After capturing a forensic image of the two hard drives, we spend an additional eight hours recovering, analyzing, and generating a findings report. The client would be charged a total of $800 plus associated return shipping costs.

In cases relating to computer media, we use the imaging fee as the retainer. This fee is due at the time we take custody of the items.

Handheld devices (this includes flash memory cards):

All recovery services relating to handheld devices, to include flash memory cards, are billed at $75 per hour for the first four hours and $50 for each additional hour. On average, cell phone and PDA services total approximately $300. Previously we charged a flat $500 rate for most services relating to the recovery of data from handheld devices. Over time we realized this was not exactly cost effective to our clients because most cases can be completed start to finish in approximately four to five hours. In most situations, a $100 retainer fee is due at the time we take custody of the device(s).

We understand that some cases may be very narrow in scope. Under such circumstances we do reduce our rates to accommodate our client’s needs in a more cost effective manner.

* The above charges apply only to items shipped to us and examined in our lab. Additional charges will be applied to all cases that require travel and/or large acquisitions that require the purchase of additional resources (does not apply to most cases). Under most circumstance, this is quoted up front and listed in the original service agreement.
